Global Talent Visa
Global Talent is endorsement-led. The application is largely a case about your track record, made to an endorsing body rather than to a caseworker.
The Global Talent route is for people with a record of achievement, or exceptional promise, in eligible fields. Permission does not depend on a sponsor or a job offer, which makes it unusually flexible: you can work for yourself, change employer, or hold several roles.
The work is in the endorsement. It means assembling the evidence of a career into an argument that meets the endorsing body’s published criteria, which is a different exercise from completing an application form.
The flexibility also has consequences for settlement timing that are worth understanding before you apply.
Who this is for
- Researchers, academics and clinicians
- People working in digital technology
- Those in arts, culture, architecture, film and fashion
- Applicants with strong records but no UK job offer
- People weighing Global Talent against sponsored work
Common questions
Do I need a job offer?
No. That is the central advantage of the route. Permission is not tied to an employer, so you can change roles, work for yourself or combine both without a further application.
What does endorsement involve?
An application to a designated endorsing body, assessed against published criteria for your field. It is an evidential exercise: what you have done, how it was recognised, and by whom.
What if I am early in my career?
Parts of the route are designed for exceptional promise rather than established achievement. Whether that fits depends on the field and on the evidence available.
How does Global Talent affect settlement?
Qualifying periods differ from sponsored routes and in some cases are shorter. That is one reason to compare routes rather than taking the first one available.
