Ancestry Visas (Work)
This visa is for applicants who can claim a connection with the UK through at least one grandparent.
The fundamental requirements are
You are a Commonwealth citizen
you are aged 17 or over
you are able to work and you plan to work in the UK
You can adequately support and accommodate yourself and your dependants without help from public funds
You must also show that at least 1 of your grandparents was born:
in the UK (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).
OR
before 31 March 1922 in what is now the Republic of Ireland.
OR
before 31 March 1922 in what is now the Republic of Ireland.
This visa allows full rights to work with no restrictions.
The original visa is valid for 5 years. At the end of this period, and subject to certain requirements, it is possible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
Skilled Worker Visas (Work)
This visa is for applicants who are skilled workers and will fill vacancies that the employer cannot fill with resident workers.
To qualify, you must satisfy four criteria:
Offer of Employment:
You must have an offer of employment and a Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed sponsor in the UK
Salary:
There are minimum salary levels
English Language:
You must provide evidence to prove that you speak English to the required standard.
Maintenance:
You must possess a certain amount of funds to support yourself (and any dependants) in the UK.
The original visa lasts for a duration it was given, after which it is possible to apply for an extension with the same sponsor or a different sponsor. After spending 5 years in this category, you can apply to settle permanently in the UK
Temporary Worker Visas (Work)
This visa is for applicants with an offer of short-term work in the UK..
There are two fundamental requirements:
Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
You must have an offer of employment from a licensed sponsor.
Maintenance:
You must possess a certain amount of funds to support yourself in the UK.
There are five categories of eligible employment:
Seasonal Worker Visa
Worker visa
Charity worker visa
Religious worker visa
Government Authorised Exchange worker visa
International Agreement worker Visa
The visa is valid for a maximum of either 12 or 24 months, depending on the exact category. It cannot be extended further.
Youth Mobility Worker Visas (Work)
The Global Talent visa is open to people who want to work in the UK. You should be at least 18 years old and a leader or potential leader in one of the following fields:
Academia or research
Arts and Culture
Digital technology
Australia
Canada
Monaco
New Zealand
San Marino
Iceland
You can apply for a Global Talent visa if you have successfully applied for an endorsement to prove that you are a leader or potential leader or without an endorsement if you’ve won an eligible award.
With a Global Talent visa, you can live and work in the UK for 5 years with no limit on how long you can stay in the UK as long as the visa is renewed (extended) before it expires.
This visa can be extended for 1 to 5 years, and it gives you a part way to getting an Indefinite leave to remain in the UK after 3 or 5 years, depending on how you apply and the field you work in.
Global Talent Visas (Work)
The Youth mobility scheme visa is for people aged 18 to 30, who want to live and work in the UK for 2 years. You must have a savings of £2,530 and can apply if you have certain types of British Nationality or you come from certain countries or territories.
British Nationality includes:
British overseas citizen
British Overseas Territories citizen
British national (overseas)
Australia
Canada
Monaco
New Zealand
San Marino
Iceland
Youth mobility Scehem Ballot:
The Ballot is only open to people from certain countries. If you are from any of the countries listed below, you would need to enter a ballot before you can apply for the Youth mobility scheme visa. Ballots are open for 48hrs in January and July each year. If you are successful with the ballot, you then have 30 days to submit your application and pay the fee for the Youth mobility scheme visa
This visa has a maximum stay of 24 months, it is not extendable and does not lead to an indefinite leave to remain
High Potential Individual Visas (Work)
A High Potential Individual (HPI) visa permits you to stay in the UK for at least 2 years or 3 years If you have a PhD or other doctoral qualification.
To be eligible for this visa:
You must have been awarded a qualification by an eligible university in the last 5 years.
Your qualification must be at the same level as a UK bachelor’s degree, postgraduate degree or PhD or doctorate
You must apply to Ecctis (formerly UK NARIC) to check that your qualification is valid and at the right level.
You must prove your knowledge of English
Prove that you have enough savings to support yourself in the UK
This visa cannot be extended, however, you may be able to switch to a different type of visa, for example; a Skilled Worker visa.
